Transformers Battle in Space 2 pack Review

I picked this Transformers two pack up on a weekend trip with my friends.  I believe we were going to Davis for the annual Picnic Day celebration and we stopped at Walmart.  I believe I paid around twenty-two to twenty-five dollars for this which I think is a really good price considering one deluxe Transformer goes for $14.99. Hot Rod/Rodimus is my favorite Transformer and the Cyclonus mold shown here is really awesome.  I won't bore you with too many details here since there are many, many video and written reviews on these two guys here (mainly all their different repaints).  I mainly wanted to show off how awesome they were and write a few words of encouragement for people to buy this 2-pack while it is still nice and cheap.

BATTLE IN SPACE FOR THE MATRIX

Size Comparison.  Hot Rod is the shorter of the two in this pack.  Bucky here represents the standard 3.75 inch figures and Nemesis Prime represents Transformers Voyagers in the back there.  I'd say Hot Rod and Cyclonus are pretty decent for their size and I certainly did not feel ripped off getting these guys again.

Battle in Space Hot Rod on the left and Classics Hot Rod on the right.  I personally like the Classics color scheme better.  Hot Rod has full head rotation.  His arms would have more movement if it wasn't blocked by his backpack but the should can go a 360.  Bends at the elbow.  Last real joint Hot Rod has is knee joints which can bend or rotate.
Universe Cyclonus on the left and Battle in Space Cyclonus on the right.  I'm not sure which of his paint schemes I prefer.  Both look nice but the two pack has a closer cartoon accurate color which is nostalgic for me.  Full head rotation.  Shoulders can do a 360.  Arms can move in and out and bend at the elbow.  Elbow rotation.  Legs can move all around and sport a knee joint.  Lastly there is mid thigh rotation.

Both Cyclonus'... Cylonuses.... Cyclonaii are Targetmasters.  Cyclonus comes with his little partner Nightstick.  This guy can transform from alien humanoid to Transformer sized gun and back.

Another size comparison.
Think how tall a human would be to a Transformer in the cartoon.

These little guys are awesome.  It's like getting a second Deception with the purchase of one Cyclonus!!!  Little articulation here but surprising at what he does have.   No head movement.  Arms can go 360 at the shoulder and bend at the elbow. His legs only bend at the hip.  Due to his transformation he also sports a pseudo ab crunch as well as foot bend.

On the other hand Hot Rod only comes with one gun which apparently shoots out flame missiles.  I totally do not remember Hot Rod doing this in the show.  I'm just playing I know it's just a toy thing. Battle in Space Hot Rod's gun above with the solid blue flame and Classics Hot Rod's clear blue flame below.  Again I prefer the Classics mold's color.

The Autobot Matrix of Leadership which comes with the two pack.  Kinda awesome but it has no real purpose other than to be made into a necklace. None of my Classics, Universe, Generations Autobots can hold this thing in the traditional manner and none of them can store it inside them.  I wish it did come with a little chain so I could put it around the neck of my Henkei Optimus Prime or even Deluxe Galvatron.

The comic which comes with the two pack.  The story is alright.  I won't spoil it here but it's a total sales gimmick.  Most of the Transformers in this comic sport their new toy look.  I dare you to read this and not want to go out and buy more Transformers.

 "Die Autobot!!!"
"You'll never take the Matrix Deceptibum!"
I would highly recommend this pack to anybody who doesn't have either of these bad boys yet. For the price point of $20-$25 this pack is a really good deal. The good thing about this pack is you can find it pretty much everywhere on shelves.  Toys R Us, Walmart, Target.  They've all had it listed for a similar price.  If you don't live by either any of those stores then  Amazon, BigBadToyStore, and TFSource are a few of the websites you can find this set on.

COLLECTORS:  You might want to skip out on this pick if you already have several of the Rodimus and Cyclonus molds.   This set brings nothing new to the table other than a new pain scheme so shelling out the extra twenty for this set might seem a bit much especially if  you own all the other Rodimus  and Cyclonus repaints.  However the good thing is this two pack is cheap so it might be worth to pick up a set if you want a desk toy or something to kitbash.

PARENTS:  I recommend this set for children 6+.  These are fun toys and pretty durable as well.  Getting two toys plus a comic for twenty bucks is not a bad price at all right now.  Heck one Gi-Joe over here will run you $9.50+ for one so $10-12 bucks per Transformer is not too bad.  The pack also comes with a tiny metallic Autobot Matrix of Leadership which your child can wear as a necklace.
