ThunderCats Panthro Review

Alright another ThunderCats review!  I think the new ThunderCats is the only TV show I follow right now and I think it's awesome.  I think a lot of American cartoons are getting really, really stupid.  Shows like Adventuretime and Chowder get on my nerves because  the main characters never seem to learn anything and the when they talk it's a bunch of nonsense.  But ThunderCats is a show where the animation is good, it teaches kids good morals, has sexual innuendos (I've never been more attracted to a cheetah in my life), violence for the older crowd (people die!), and a good storyline based off the original.

In the old cartoons the ThunderCat adult males looked the same except with different heads and color schemes.  This modern version makes each ThunderCat look unique.  From the main cast Panthro is the largest ThunderCat.  He's heads and shoulders over Lion-O and able to lift boulders.  Panthro is big and beefy and so far on the TV show viewers were able to see him change the most.

I paid $14.99 for this guy and I really enjoy him.  I think maybe even more than Lion-O because in my head I'm getting more bang for my buck with this larger figure.  If anything I cannot wait for them to release the rest of the ThunderCats in this size.  I'm debating whether or not I want to shell out the cash for a Mumm-Ra figure for these guys to pose with.

Panthro comes packaged similar to Lion-O.  He's great to keep in box as well as take out.  The only real difference between the boxes is the character displayed on the boxes.  Otherwise Panthro and Lion-O have the same text and ads on their box.

Panthro escaped the box!!!  A fault of mine is the ankle joints are really loose for his bulk so I have to tweak him a bit to make sure he doesn't fall over when I pose him.

**SPOILERS**
Straight off the bat Panthro looks strong and full of battle experience.  In the new show we get to see shots of younger Panthro who doesn't have scars.   Somewhere during his many battles did he gain those scars and lose sight in one eye,  I'm assuming since one eye is bright red.

Panthro comes with his nunchaku opened and in closed form.  They are not color accurate to the cartoon but that does not bug me.  Getting them into his hands are a little tricky.  According to the instructions you are supposed to let them snap into his hands.  But I'm a little weary since everything is bendy plastic so try not to take them in and out of his hands a lot.

Try to be a little careful of the peg back here on the nunchaku.  This pegs into Panthro's back but the connector joint is a little flimsy so be careful not play with it too much or else it may brake off in his back.

Articulation for Panthro:
-Ball jointed head.
-Shoulders can do a 360 as well as move out at the sides.
-Rotation joint right below the shoulders.
-Double jointed elbows.
-Rotation at the wrists.
-Side to side rocking joint at his chest.
-Ball joint waist.
-Upper chest rocker.
-Ball joint legs connecting to hip.
-Double jointed knees.
-Shin rotation
-Ankles can move forward and back and side to side.

You can kind of make out Panthro has a left brown eye and a damaged right eye that is colored red.

Just like the show Panthro is taller than Lion-O.  So he's grouped in the seven inches but I'm putting him with Lion-O  He's about a quarter of an inch shorter than seven inches.

"Come Lion-O you are a man now, drink up!"

"ThunderCats HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Definitely buy him.  With the money I saved from using Amazon I'm debating whether to buy the 4 inch ThunderKittens because they look about scale with the others and who knows how long it will take for them release the other waves.

COLLECTORS:These are great display pieces as well as toys to play with.  I'm a little iffy on how long they will last because I think the rubbery joint parts might dry out in the futures.

PARENTS:  I'd recommend them for the 4+ age group the box says.  This a real durable toy.  However you may want to pick up the smaller line for your child because those can fit in the playsets and vehicles.
