Vampire Hunter D Leila Review

Vampire Hunter D is the first and last Anime movie I own.  I bought the movie when I had a giftcard to someplace...  I can't remember, but I think it might be Blockbuster?  Anywho I didn't know they made toys for the movie until I saw this figure going at the toyfair for $15.  I thought about it and decided to pass.   Then I regretted not picking Leila up after I got home so I looked online for what this might cost me.  Luckily with shipping this toy only cost ten dollars and some change with shipping from Amazon.  I then tried to find some kind of review on the figure and when I couldn't find any reviews I ordered the figure.

This figure actually looks better in box because the way they have Leila on the bike.  It's really had to balance her out of box and because of the bubble it holds her in place.

There is a D action figure but he's something like $45+ dollars.  He would be cool to have but I'm already running out of room to display toys.  I already regret getting Leila because she doesn't really fit in anywhere and her bike adds a lot of bulk to my desk.

Out of box.  This looks a lot like her movie self and I'm really impressed.
Articulation:
-Ball jointed head.
-Shoulders can go in and out and do a 360.
-To "bend" the arm you have to rotate different parts in the arm.  Gives the arms a "seamless" look but kind of annoying if you want to pose the figure faster.
-Ball joint under her abs.
-Rotating hip joints.
-Double jointed knees.
-Ankles can rotate and go back and forth.

I spoke too soon. The face looks nothing like her movie part.

Comes with:
-Her air cannon handgun!
-Belt to hold her handgun.  Doesn't stay on too well.
-2 sets of hands
-Goggles she uses to pinpoint her target.
-Her mono-wheel motorcycle.  Pictured below.

This is the bike Leila uses in the movie.

Not as cool as in the film because of the one wheel it is very difficult to keep it still.  Even with it's stand the bike sometimes like to roll backwards.

Handgun and belt.  The belt looks a little awkward due to the belt being made of a thick rubber.

Goggles don't stay on very well. There was double sided tape attached to them but it was stuck to the back of the bubble.  I guess almost a whole decade in package does that to a toy.

Leila is almost as tall as a DVD box.

For a figure from 2001 I'm pretty impressed.  I'm pretty sure it's from 2001 because of the copyright on the back of the cardboard. The articulation is a little weird but because it's only $10 for an older toy I can look past it.

COLLECTORS:  Only get this toy if you really like Vampire Hunter D.  Leila doesn't have much going on for her other than her giant pistol and mono-wheel bike.

PARENTS:  If you see this toy cheap try to avoid it.  A child will probably break an arm or two off because she needs to rotate her arms to pose.  Doing too much rotating will probably make the arms become gimpy or snap off in the long run.
